National home equity loan rates for Sept. 16, 2010

Here's a look at the state of home equity rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted Sept. 15, 2010.

Rates on home equity products rose this week.

The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, rose 4 basis points, to 5.48 percent.

Meanwhile, home equity loan rates rose 3 basis points, to 7.14 percent. It was the first rise in loan rates since April.
